U.S. National team member Amber Trani headlines the Georgia Gym Dogs’ 2009 recruiting class, coach Suzanne Yoculan announced today.
Trani will be joined by fellow freshmen-to-be Gina Nuccio of Naperville, Ill. and Kathryn Ding of Reno, Nev.
Trani, whose vaulting capabilities won her a silver medal at last summer’s Pan American Games, will serve the Gym Dogs well, Yoculan believes.
“Amber is one of the most powerful athletes we have seen here in quite some time,” Yoculan said. “Her vault and floor are explosive and will most assuredly bring the crowd to their feet when she hits the floor in Stegeman Coliseum. She comes off as a quiet personality, but do not be deceived, Amber has a chance to be a major player in the all-around for her entire career here at UGA.”
Amber Trani, 2007 Pan American Games Event Finals, Vault:
Trani’s Parkettes teammate Julie Cotter, a level 10 who broke both her tibia in a “freak” training accident in March, has committed to the University of Alabama, The Allentown Morning Call reported.

(not meant to troll, speculative comment): The prevelance of freak injuries (Shewfelt, and this girl breaking both legs, muscle tears by Blaine and Morgan) makes me wonder if the athletes are overtaxing their bodies with steroids and HGH.

In nuccio’s case. She does not use steriods! She is just a gifted natural athlete with sheer determination.
