Bold statement from Anna Pavlova at Euros

The Romanians, as expected, won the 2008 European Championships team title. More exciting was Anna Pavlova’s floor routine, which includes the best double layout I’ve seen all quad. (The DL has gone out of fashion as of late. Seems like everyone’s opening up with full-twisting doubles of the tucked or piked variety.)

Also cool are the camera angles from above.

    wow that was impressive!!
she is just beautiful to watch. too bad her a score is too low to medal in beijing but i dont care as long as she performs beautifully, she will always be the best gymnast for me. love her.

i really admire Ms. Pavlova, but i’m not sure how i feel about this routine. the choreography drags a little in the middle. i’m glad to see she’s back in form, though.

A double layout is harder than a full in.

She looks the best she’s been in a long time … if not ever.

Lovely routine, Anna looking like this heading into Beijing thrills me. I’ve loved her since 2002 and seeing her make it back somewhat alleviates the sense of loss that had been marring the sport for me as more and more of the truly artistic and original gymnasts dropped out of contention for Beijing.

Didn’t Nistor do a DL? I think I recall seeing it in a video and it was the most hideous thing I had ever seen.

My favorite gymnast! Is she really not in contention for the all-around?

Best floor routine of this quad, no doubt! No one outperforms Anna when it comes to artistry!
