It only took Nina Kim one performance to become the top all-arounder in the NCAA.
For this week, at least.
Granted that Kim, who competed all-around for the first time since 2006 last week when Utah went up against Minnesota, is likely at the top because her all-around score from that meet (39.55) is the only one she’s posted thusfar. Had Kim competed all-around earlier in the season when scoring was tighter, as teammates Ashley Postell (no. 2 all-around) and Kristina Baskett (no. 11) did, her average would likely be lower.
Nevertheless, it’s a nice moment in the sun for the former WOGA gymnast, who was sixth all-around at the 2002 U.S. Championships.
Kim was always terrific on balance beam, but competing in the NCAA has brought out the best in her gymnastics on the other three events.

I always liked here when she was an elite. Glad to see her doing well.
