OK, so she falls twice here. And during the all-around of Elite Canada in December she fell three times. Nevertheless, the difficulty in Canadian Peng-Peng Lee’s beam routine rivals the best in the world.
Peng-Peng Lee, 2007 Elite Canada Event Finals, Balance Beam:
This routine carries a start value of 7.3, and according to Lee’s coach Carol-Angela Orchard, she’s got more in her bag of tricks — namely an illusion turn that can be added in for more difficulty.
Lee has been making waves as a junior in Canada since 2004, but is just beginning to get international exposure. She represented Canada at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janiero (the Brazilian crowds laughed at the beginning her floor routine but cheered when she landed her first pass well.) More international exposure is likely to follow.

while I think it’s great she’s trying for the Olympics, I question, what’s the point in having lots of difficulty but can’t ever stick it or even land it for that matter?

She’s too young for Beijing. She’ll get better at sticking in the next four years.

She’s really the best up and comer Canada has had in a long time. As long as this code is in, then it will always be worth it to go for the big tricks. With a 7.3 start value, she has space to fall a few times. Like El says, she’ll get better in another 4 years. Stay healthy, Pengpeng!!

reminds me of Koyuki Oka on floor from 1986. But most amazing beam.
A hit routine could just blow them away. I love that the flare beam mount is still a dream that you never gave up on Carol. Peng Peng does it amazingly.

the girl is amazing. i’ve viewed routines where she has stuck everything, and others where you just know she could. i also really like the dance elements in her beam routine. so much energy!

The brazilian crowds didn’t laugh at the begining. They just “feel” her energy and they liked her because they noticed she was a very good dancer.
