Worley: New floor, vault for 2008

By Blythe

Inside Gymnastics Magazine has posted an interview with 2007 World Team member Shayla Worley, who confirmed she has a new floor routine and is planning to throw a double-twisting Yurchenko vault in competition this season.

Worley’s American Cup sets will include a revamped floor routine and, possibly, an upgraded vault. “I actually just got a new floor routine,” she revealed. “[The music is] by Jesse Cook. I don’t know how to describe it. It’s kind of Spanish-y, but not really. I got it done in December, so I’ve had enough time. The first time [National Team Coordinator] Martha (Karolyi) saw it was Tuesday (January 29), at camp, and she said she liked it, so, I’m ready.”

Worley is scheduled to compete at the March 1 American Cup in New York City, which should bring back good memories — it was at the 2006 American Cup that she brust onto the U.S. and World scene with a second-place finish behind Nastia Liukin.
